Azerbaijani Opposition Parties Attempt to Form False Opinion about us – Azerbaijnai Opposition Party’s Chairman

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The chairman of the Azerbaijani opposition Civil Solidarity Party (CSP) blamed other parties of the left wing with an attempt to form false opinion about CSP. Opposition parties attempt to ground their position on non-participation of CSP at rallies held lately. There are parties which call to boycott elections take part at elections and those who are against to sit in the Parliament themselves sit in the Parliament, stated MP and a member of the permanent parliamentary commission on international and inter-parliamentary relations Sabir Rustamkhanli during the 4th meeting of the party in Baku on 24 December.

"Why some our friends attempt to remove us from the immense opposition camp? A slander campaign against CSP has been continued for several years. Azerbaijani opposition together with the Authorities carries responsibility before population.

There occurred some differences between the party and a range of opposition leaders.

CSP was founded under the chairmanship of one of the leaders of the National Liberation Movement, Sabir Rustamkhanli, in 1992. The party took part in the parliamentary elections in 1995, 2000, 2005, presidential elections- 2003 and municipal elections 1999 and 2004. The party received state registration on 3 November 1992. The party has over than 35,000 members. Three MPs represent the party at the Parliament.
