Astana will host a congress of leaders of the world and traditional religions whose key topic will be interconfessional dialogue, Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Serik Primbetov said at a news conference in Baku on June 23.
"Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev initiated to hold the congress in 2002 and Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade agreed to participate in the congress," the ambassador said.
The diplomat said that over 60 delegations are expected to take part in the congress.
"At the same time, it is planned to hold a forum on security which is the hugest event in Kazakhstan in 2009," the ambassador said.
First Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov is expected to attend the forum, he said.
