On Nov. 2, Kazakh Ambassador to Australia Erlan Baudarbek-Kozhataev opened the Kazakh honorary consulate in Perth (Australia), the Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Ilyas Omarov told Trend .

"On Nov. 2, the ambassador formally opened the honorary consulate of Kazakhstan in the Perth (Western Australia), Omarov said.

The officials and representatives of the Western Australia's business circles also attended the opening ceremony.

The managing director and president of the Central Asian Resources Ltd, Jason Stirbinskis, was appointed the Kazakh Honorary Consul, whose mission is to promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, Omarov added.  

According to Omarov, a roundtable with participation of officials and businessmen dealing with the development of investment climate in our country and presentation of the potential sectors to draw the Australian investment was held as a part of the event.

The Western Australia is the largest Australian state occupying one third of the green continent, equal to the area of Kazakhstan. The main directions of the state's economic activity are mining and oil and gas industry, as well as the agricultural sector.
