Georgia, Tbilisi, March 9 / Trend , N. Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian side expresses its willingness to resume direct air transport with Russia. Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a traditional Monday briefing that direct flights were stopped not upon the Georgian side's, but rather Russia's initiative. Accordingly, Moscow must issue a decision on resuming air transport between the two countries.

"If Russia has such a desire, then there is appropriate way to formally inform us about it through the Swiss embassy," Kalandadze said.

She said an example of such cooperation is the recent opening of the Upper Lars customs point.
