A workshop dedicated to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women is held in Ashgabat within the project "Strengthening of national capacity of Turkmenistan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights".
The forum is held with the participation of the foreign ministry, the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the Turkmen President and the UN Population Fund.
Organizers said that the event was organized for the participants of the working group of the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights. It was involved in the preparation for the National Report in this field.
"CEDAW is an important international treaty on human rights. The principles are determined as the main priorities of state policy in accordance with the Constitution and accepted international standards," the statement said.
