Industrial production in Tajikistan's Sughd region goes up

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 25. The value of industrial production in Tajikistan’s Sughd region reached 6.84 billion somoni ($626.969 million) from January through March 2024, which is a 10 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to regional authorities, during the period, 91,202 metric tons of flour, 1,745 metric tons of vegetable oil, 12,149 metric tons of bread and bakery products, 3.323 million units of various canned goods, 3.557 million deciliters of non-alcoholic beverages, and 3.348 million units of canned fruit and vegetable products were produced.

In the first quarter of the current year, the region produced 303,000 metric tons of cement and 226,000 metric tons of coal.

There are plans to open 140 new small and medium-sized enterprises in the region in 2024, creating 2,800 job opportunities. In the first quarter, 39 enterprises with 246 job positions commenced operations in the region.

Tajikistan's ongoing industrialization strategy for 2022–2026, named the "Years of Industrial Development," aims to increase industrial output by 2.5 times within five years. The strategy sets a target of reaching 95 billion somoni ($9.3 billion) by 2026, compared to 39 billion somoni ($3.7 billion) in 2021, and includes plans to establish over 870 new industrial enterprises.
