Azerbaijani media have the necessary authority to cover the parliamentary elections this autumn, Presidential Administration Social and Political Department head Ali Hasanov said during courses for district election commission members this week.
"All of the other structures, though, need to register to monitor the elections, but media outlets only need to show their certificate," Hasanov said.
He added that media outlets must organize their activities without interfering in the electoral process.
"Their management should not give them reason to obstruct the elections," he said.
The Central Election Commission began courses to improve the skills of the district electoral commission chairmen on Aug. 23.
Hasanov, Chairman of the Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev, Deputy Interior Minister Oruj Zalov, Deputy Public Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov, CEC members and other officials will deliver lectures during the courses, which will run until Aug. 29.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled for early November.
