Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents have expanded meeting (UPDATE-2)

Following an official welcoming ceremony on Thursday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met one-on-one today with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, AzerTaj state news agency reported.

Following an official welcoming ceremony on Thursday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met one-on-one today with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, AzerTaj state news agency reported.

Later Aliyev and Medvedev have had an expanded meeting with officials from both countries.

"Dear Dmitry Anatolevich, I wish to once again heartily welcome You in Azerbaijan. Welcome! We are always glad to see You. It is a good opportunity to meet, discuss issues of mutual interest. Our frequent visits to each another are a good indicator of our relations," said Aliyev.

According to Aliyev, the agenda of relations is very extensive. "We very fruitfully work in different directions. And our relations are distinguished with sincerity: it is the relationship between kind neighbors, friends, the relationship between strategic partners. I am confident that Your visit to our country will be very important for the further development of our relations and a successful way forward, the more we have something to discuss and take important decisions," said the President of Azerbaijan.

Expressing gratitude, the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that the relations between the countries are kind, friendly, neighborly, strategic. "I hope that during this visit, we will discuss current issues, our bilateral relations, regional agenda, international issues and, of course, will sign important documents that we have discussed with You for long enough, and our team has worked. So, in this sense, today is a very important day. With regards to further, I absolutely agree: that we will regularly meet, talk here in Azerbaijan and in the Russian Federation, and other places at various summits - it is key to strong, durable and friendly relations over next years. We see the Russian-Azerbaijani relations as such," said the President of Russia.

Later Aliyev and Medvedev have had an expanded meeting with officials from both countries.
After the expanded meeting, Azerbaijani-Russian documents were signed at a ceremony.
