DRP LEADER HOLDS MEETINGS AT WHITE HOUSE, PENTAGON, DEPARTMENT OF STATE

Asim Mollazada, the chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party (DRP), who is on a visit to the United States from 15 July, held several meeting in Washington on Tuesday. He met with the editor-in-chief of the Washington Post newspaper, Jackson Diel. During the talks Mollazada informed Diel about the ongoing developments in Azerbaijan and in the region.

The same day he had a meeting with the head of the Aviation Department, Jim McDouglas, in Pentagon to discuss the situation in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as security issues.

The talks with David Markell, the new head of the Aviation Department of the National Security Council, at the White House focused on public and political situation in Azerbaijan on the eve of the parliamentary elections. In his remarks the leader of DRP noted that the democratic elections and development of democracy in the country could be a major condition for stability in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting with assistant Secretary of State Met Brouse at the Department of State Mollazada discussed the situation in Azerbaijan and in the region, as well as the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Mollazada is to complete his visit to the United States late this week.
