The Azerbaijani government is trying to assist NGO in order to make them partners of the state, head of the public affairs department of the presidential apparatus, Ali Hasanov told Trend.

Today, NGOs are mostly engaged in donor activities, he said. Unfortunately, governmental aid makes only a minimal percent, whereas 99% of financial assistance comes from abroad. As it was stated in the greeting letter of the Azerbaijani president, Ilham Aliyev to the 6th forum of national NGOs, NGO are inseparable part of democracy and civil society building and actively support the government. I think that in future as potential of the state will grow there will be more chances to finance NGO, therefore, we are looking for ways to assist NGO, Hasanov said.

NGO might be attracted to many sectors as partners of the state. Government may order some of the NGO projects in the area of social development, ecology, education and human rights, he said. Probably we will prepare some projects and present them to NGO for implementation.

There are a number of state committees and other state bodies working with NGO, he reminded. These bodies are planned to be united into a single center in order to create a sole structure working with NGO. Any proposals are welcome, he concluded.
