The Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Huseyn Bagirov, said on December 21 in the opening of the first Control Laboratory on Epidemic Condition of Wild Nature that monitoring held in the territory of Azerbaijan with regards to the bird flu did not yield positive results.
According to him, the Ministry of Ecology will continue such kind of monitoring in co-operation with the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Irrespective of the absence of this dangerous disease in Azerbaijan, we can refuse to hold future researches. Presently, the threats arise from Kazakhstan and Russia, where the H5N1 virus dwell. Therefore, we can control the situation with this disease by gradually creating modern laboratories in various regions of the country, said the Minister.
It should be mentioned that Control Laboratory on Epidemic Condition of Wild Nature is unique laboratory in the Caucasus.
