Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 January / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / The Azerbaijani Ecology & Natural Resources Ministry revealed many cases of tree felling in the regions of Sumgayit, Gobustan, Absheron and Khizi.
Felling of good trees was found in the 2nd, 3rd and 12th micro-regions of Baku, as well as in the Nasimi seaside park, the Ministry said to Trend.
The Ministry exposed 43 tree felling cases near the 16th kilometre of the Baku-Sumgayit highway.
A green section was fenced in Khirdalan and trees were felled there.
As a result of investigations, monitoring exercises and raids held by the Ministry in 2007, 243 bills of indictment, 112 reports were filed on the basis of damage caused to the regions of Gobustan, Absheron and Khizi.
A total of 36 people were fined the sum of AZN 5,903 for violation of ecological regulations.
