(dpa) - The Vienna fan zone opened in the morning for the Euro 2008 final between Germany and Spain, with organizers expecting its 75,000-capacity to be reached far ahead of the evening kickoff.

"Everything is peaceful, the atmosphere could not be any better," said spokesman Alexander Markatovits as the first fans arrived almost 12 hours before the 1845 GMT match kickoff in Vienna's Ernst Happel stadium.

Some 40,000 German fans and 15,000 from Spain were expected in the Austrian capital's fan zone on the day, with locals to provide the other 20,000 football fans.

Glorious sunshine was forecast for the whole day after a thunderstorm forced the evacuation of the fan zone on Wednesday during the first semi-final on Wednesday and another storm raged during the second semi-final on Thursday.

A second fan zone was also available in Vienna on Sunday, in the Hanappi stadium.
