BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. A conference titled "New Trends in Modern Media: Information Security and Professionalism Criteria" was held at the Baku Business Center on October 11, Trend reports.

The event, hosted by the Press Council, commenced with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, after which there was a moment of silence to honor the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, including journalists who were martyred.

Attendees included board members of the Press Council, leaders from the Media Development Agency, and editors from different media outlets. The opening remarks were made by Chairman of the Press Council Rashad Majid, Head of Sector of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmir Velizade, and Executive Director of the Media Development Agency Ahmad Ismayilov.

The speeches emphasized key aspects of the President's remarks concerning the information war against Azerbaijan by certain international entities. The main speaker, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council and dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University Vugar Zifaroglu, discussed the information war against Azerbaijan within a political-ideological framework and the media's role in safeguarding the information security of society.

Next, a member of the Board of the Council and head of the Trade Union of Journalists, Mushfig Aleskerli, addressed strategies for countering misinformation along with administrative and legal frameworks.

Members of the Board of the Council - the head of Technote Media, Farid Pardashunas, talked about the digital transformation of Azerbaijani media, while the editor-in-chief of the website "Azxeber.com" Hajibey Heydarli, shared insights on media expectations in light of competition from social networks.

The event included collaborative presentations by doctoral students Nursharaf Tagiyeva and Sunbul Zalova from the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University, who focused on the application of international journalism trends within the country's media.

A discussion ensued on the previously mentioned topics, resulting in recommendations from the Press Council of Azerbaijan for media organizations.

The recommendations stressed strict adherence to the "Rules of Ethical Conduct for Azerbaijani Journalists," promoting increased information production, leveraging the advantages of new media such as speed and interactivity, adapting to modern technological changes, and acknowledging new trends, particularly in Western journalism. They also highlighted the need to uphold the standards of the Azerbaijani state language, enhance the quality of translated materials, and carefully verify the accuracy of information published on social networks.

Additionally, it was emphasized that media representatives should aim to create a unified and strong public opinion in the country to protect national interests, striving to produce articles and reports that advocate for Azerbaijan amidst the ongoing global information battle.
