BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. Data privacy issues remain a priority for Central Asia and the Caucasus, Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Caucasus and Central Asia at Google Olga Skorokhodova said at the "INMerge' Innovation Summit" organized by PASHA Holding for the fourth time, Trend reports.

"Privacy issues remain a priority for all governments, including those in Central Asia and the Caucasus. One of the key concerns relevant to our region is the common misconception that data localization equates to privacy protection. We often assume that storing data on a specific territory automatically guarantees its security, which is fundamentally incorrect. For governments to fully leverage the opportunities provided by AI, cross-border data exchange is crucial," Skorokhodova said.

She also noted that concerns regarding data privacy are also valid.

The summit, organized by PASHA Holding, aims to contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem in the country, bringing together startups and investors to provide opportunities for collaboration, as well as creating a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among all participants in the innovation ecosystem.
