BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. The BE-200SS amphibious aircraft from the Azerbaijani Emergencies Ministry's aviation unit, dispatched to fraternal Türkiye by instruction of President Ilham Aliyev to aid in combating severe forest fires, has returned to Azerbaijan, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“Since August 18, 2024, the BE-200SS amphibious aircraft has participated in firefighting operations in the regions of Mugla-Ula, Bolu-Gerede, Ushak-Eshme, Akhisar-Tashkuyujak, Balıkesir-Edremit, Manisa-Alaşehir, Izmir-Urla, Bergama, Foça, Aliaga, and Kemalpasha-Kamberler.
A total of around 400 tons of water were deployed to combat the forest fire hotspots.
The amphibious aircraft, which effectively executed its designated responsibilities and successfully extinguished flames in collaboration with local firefighting units, landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport at approximately 14:40 today,” the information noted.
