BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. An organ music concert showcasing Azerbaijani musicians, backed by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, is set to unfold at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Basel, Switzerland, the organizers told Trend.
The concert program will roll out the red carpet for works by Azerbaijani composers, featuring the kamancha and organ taking center stage. Madina Shahgaldiyeva, a shining star and a presidential scholarship recipient, will take the stage with her kamancha, while Shafag Abdullayeva, a seasoned participant in both national and international projects, will grace the audience with her talent on the organ.
The kamancha is an integral component of both classical and folk music in Azerbaijan, serving a pivotal function in several public and cultural events. It is a fundamental component of Azerbaijani musical culture, and the artists who create it regard their work as a significant element of the intangible cultural heritage of their communities. The kamancha is crucial for executing Azerbaijani mugham, necessitating a trio of players. The emotive music produced by this string instrument has enthralled audiences globally. Notably, "The Art of Making the String Instrument Kamancha and Performing Art" is included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Organ music is a real game changer, stirring the pot of emotions and wrapping listeners in a blanket of deep reflections. The organ can whip up a symphony of sound effects and moods, playing a pivotal role in stirring a person's emotional pot. It can play a symphony of melodies and harmonies all at once, paving the way for intricate and captivating compositions, marked by its one-of-a-kind and varied sounds.
The blend of kamancha and organ, coupled with the flair of young musicians and the charm of the venue, is bound to create a night to remember.
To note, for the past three decades, the Church of the Holy Spirit has yearly held the Piano-Organ Festival, drawing numerous music enthusiasts to the venue.
