BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. The energy sector relies heavily on digital technologies, a representative of bp's regional structure in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, Ayten Hajiyeva said at the "INMerge' Innovation Summit," organized by PASHA Holding for the fourth time, Trend reports.

"The energy sector, including renewable sources, decarbonization, and other factors, heavily depends on digital technologies. Therefore, as early as 2015, we began emphasizing the importance of digital transformation. We implemented this strategy across our business operations in over 60 countries worldwide. There are numerous projects we are proud of, and I would like to share some today. One of the largest projects we have undertaken using advanced technological and innovative solutions is the Southern Gas Corridor. This large-scale project, valued at $45 billion, spans five countries and is crucial for regional nations, as it connects Azerbaijani gas to the European market, delivering it to southern Italy. We utilized a variety of innovative and technological solutions for the construction of this pipeline to ensure its operation for our clients," Hajiyeva said.

She also mentioned another important project developed by bp, which involves the use of remotely operated underwater vehicles for the integrity and monitoring of underwater pipelines.

"This technology was tested in Azerbaijan, and we shared our knowledge and experience with central teams. Regarding other achievements in our region, it's worth noting the use of 4D seismic studies that we implemented at the ACG field, as well as horizontally directed drilling during pipeline construction. We employed unique horizontally directed drilling to successfully execute this project. Furthermore, after the construction of the BTC pipeline, we used satellite technologies to monitor landscape restoration. However, the most significant achievement, in my opinion, is the new Azeri Central East platform, which was recently commissioned. This is the most advanced offshore platform operated by bp, and it functions from the shore, demonstrating the company's progressive approach to the future. We aim to meet market demands while actively moving toward energy transition, making the most efficient use of digital technologies to create a more effective, rapid, and sustainable business," she added.

The summit, organized by PASHA Holding, aims to contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem in the country, bringing together startups and investors to provide opportunities for collaboration, as well as creating a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among all participants in the innovation ecosystem.
