European judo champion ranks 7th in Tokio

European junior judo champion Araz Mukhtarov ranked 7th at the international tournament in Tokio held in honor of the founder of this eastern sport Jigaro Cano.

Mukhtarov defeated a Taiwanese sportsman at the first fight, but lost to a Japanese sportsman at the next round. Nevertheless, Mukhtarov could claim to bronze medal at consolation single combat, but he lost to Japanese master at the first one and ranked 7th. Besides, other Azerbaijani judo wrestler Elkhan Mammadov (90 kg) was defeated by Egyptian rival at debut.

It should be mentioned that after the tournament Mukhtarov and Mammadov joined the joint trainings to last 4 days.
