Heavy Rains in Georgia Cause Floods in Azerbaijani Part of Kur River

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Asif Verdiyev, the chief hydrologist of the National Hydrology Department at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic, reported on 3 May that the heavy rains in Georgia had caused floods in the Azerbaijani part of the Kur river.

He noted that the water level in the river had reached a dangerous degree. The water level in the Kur is 452sm, what is 150sm below the dangerous degree. Thus, the maximal water level of the Kur is 550-600sm.

On 2-3 May the Kazakgh region's part of the river experienced minor floods.

Kazakh region is 520km far away from Baku.
