The opening ceremony of the Uzbek-Singapore Center for Tourism Development, which will provide Singapore residents with reliable and comprehensive information about the tourism attractiveness of Uzbekistan, was held in Singapore, Trend reports with reference to the Uzbek media.

Uzbek Ambassador to Singapore Kahramon Shakirov noted that in 2018 the number of tourists from Singapore to Uzbekistan tripled compared to 2017 and amounted to 1,842 people.

Head of the S.E.A. Business Center and the Uzbek-Singapore Center for Tourism Development Rudy Fang stated that the main purpose of the Center is to assist in promoting the tourism brand of Uzbekistan, not only in Singapore, but also in the countries of Southeast Asia.

“Uzbekistan is a hidden gem and this initiative will open up new prospects in the development of the country's tourism industry,” said Nomita Dhar, editor-in-chief of the Sun Media Pte LTD.

In early 2018, Singapore citizens were granted a visa-free regime for entry into Uzbekistan for up to 30 days, which favorably affected the increase in the number of tourists.
