Audi A5 Gets All-New 1.8 Turbo FSI Engine ( UK)

( Worldcarfans ) - With deliveries starting this November in the UK, the Audi A5 gets its first four-cylinder engine with a newly revised 1.8 liter turbo engine found in the Audi A3, A4, A6 and TT. This engine gets upgraded to Bosch's new DI-Motronic (direct injection) system which injects high pressurized petrol as a fine spray directly into the combustion chamber, whereas, the preceding 1.8T used a standard multi-port system which sprays fuel into the air intake system. As a result, power output and fuel efficiency improves.

The Audi A5 1.8 TFSI produces 170hp at 4,800-6,200rpm which is an increase of 7hp over its predecessor. Torque increases from 210Nm to 250Nm at 1,500-4,800rpm, fuel economy improves from 33.6mpg to 39.8mpg according to the combined cycle test and CO2 emissions drop from 202g/km to 169g/km. The A5 accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and has a top speed of 140mph.

The standard equipment found in the base V6 models gets handed down to the A5 1.8 TFSI essentially unchanged. One key option sure to be popular for the four cylinder model is the Xenon head lamps with LED daytime running lights which cost ?775. The Audi A5 1.8 TFSI is available for order now with an OTR price of ?26,190.
