The reasons for the incident over the CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines' aircraft that skids off runway at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport and the fate of the damaged aircraft will be known only after the special commission set up by the Turkish civil aviation to investigate the incident will complete the work, a source in AZAL reported.

"The causes of the incident and the fate of the damaged aircraft will be known only on the basis of results the commission's investigation. It is too early to speak of any time frame," the source said.

According to the source, AZAL specialists were sent to Turkey to jointly investigate the fact together with the Turkish commission.

Passengers who were due to return with this aircraft were, were delivered to Baku last night by another aircraft, the source said.

An Azerbaijani aircraft flying from Baku to Istanbul skid off the runway today after landing at the Istanbul International Ataturk Airport Aug.12. The plane left Baku at 10:06 (local time) and landed at 10:40 (local time).

There were 119 passengers and 8 crew members on board the Airbus-319 (flight number J2075). No one was injured.

According to preliminary information, the cause of the incident is that the pilot failed to adjust the speed after landing. As a result, the front part of undercarriage bent and the aircraft fell to the fuselage, damaging the surface of the engine.
