TRACECA transport corridor’s participants to continue cooperation achieved under first investment forum

The participation of private investments in the implementation of government commitments will be highly appreciated by banks with a view to increase financing of infrastructure projects, the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Jantoro Satybaldiev said at the first investment forum of the transport corridor TRACECA (Europe-Caucasus-Asia).

The participation of private investments in the implementation of government commitments will be highly appreciated by banks with a view to increase financing of infrastructure projects, the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Jantoro Satybaldiev said at the first investment forum of the transport corridor TRACECA (Europe-Caucasus-Asia).

The First Investment Forum TRACECA was held in Brussels Oct. 12 to discuss the establishment of a new interaction between European and international donors to finance transport infrastructure projects within the corridor.

TRACECA is funded by the European Union and aims to strengthen economic relations, trade and transport communications between Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan). Over the past twenty years, funding has been received from the EU for technical assistance projects aimed at the safety of transport, trade assistance and institutional support.  

The First Investment Forum initiates ongoing dialogue between the corridor's participating countries, international donors and transport operators.

At the forum potential investors got familiarized with five projects on rehabilitation of highways, five projects for the construction of railways and three port projects. During the Forum the countries highlighted the potential for logistics centers to improve competitiveness and efficiency in the transport sector. The amount of investments in offers ranges from 3 to 500 million euros. The projects also included a project presented by Azerbaijan on logistics center in the port, which will be built in Alat settlement.

TRACECA will continue this dialogue with a view to strengthen cooperation, which has become one of the main results of the Forum.
