Annual inflation hits 4.6 percent in Georgia

Annual inflation in Georgia was 4.6 percent in September, the Georgian Statistics Agency reported.

The prices of food and soft drinks increased by 5.8 percent during the report period. Their share in the total inflation rate was 2.5 percent.

A serious price increase was recorded on meat and meat products (24.9 percent), sugar and confectionery (15.7 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (11.2 percent), vegetable oils and fats (8.1 percent), bread and bakery products (6.2 percent).

Prices for vegetables and melons in September declined by 14.1 percent, fruits and grapes - by 6.2 percent.

Transportation prices rose by 17.3 percent and their share in the inflation rate was 1.7 percent.

Prices for transport services increased by 23.8 percent, fuel prices - by 17.3 percent.
