Azerbaijan, Baku, November 24 / Trend, N. Ismailova /

The Azerbaijani Export and Investments Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) will inform local entrepreneurs of tenders the World Bank plans to conduct in Eastern Europe and CIS, Adil Mammadov, AZPROMO President, told journalists on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the AZPROMO, jointly with the World Bank Baku Office, held a seminar for Azerbaijani entrepreneurs over the WB purchase procedures. Some 70 people attended the seminar.

"The seminar's key goal is to inform Azerbaijani entrepreneurs of the projects the WB is offering in the region. As is known, Azerbaijani companies have lately intensified operations at foreign markets so the AZPROMO intends to inform entrepreneurs of WB projects in fields such as construction, healthcare, equipment delivery as well as of the rules of participation in WB tenders," Mr Mammadov said.
Azerbaijani companies have already been taking an active part in the tenders the WB conducts in the Balkans, Eastern Europe and CIS.

The World Bank has assigned around $3 billion for the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan since the country joined it in 1992. Currently, the portfolio of the WB covers 20 projects valued at a total of $2.3 billion. The projects are involved in the fields of transport, water supply and sanitation, agriculture and irrigation, healthcare and education.
