Turkish company Polimeks Insaat Taahhut ve Sanayi Ticaret A.S. has obtained a contract to design and build an industrial park in Ashgabat, equipped with modern technologies and equipment.

According to the document, construction is planned to begin operations in June 2012 and the park will be commissioned in June 2014.

The industrial park is designed to encourage innovation. It partially resembles a campus which operated during the USSR period. Industrial parks first appeared in the U.S. The first industrial park in the USSR was built in the city of Tomsk in 1988. It was created on the basis of the experience of one of the innovative areas in France.

Turkmenistan took a course to actively use alternative energy sources, particularly solar and wind power in 2007 and also develop nanotechnologies for the country's progressive movement.

The Academy of Sciences which was earlier disbanded and the post-graduate school were restored. The unique institutions of desert and sun were also restored.
