Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 17 / Trend A.Akhundov /

The state-owned Azersu Company (water operator of Azerbaijan) has determined the winners of the tender for the rehabilitation of the water supply and sewerage system in the city of Beylagan within the investment programme of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the company said on Friday.

Contracts were signed with the winners of the tender - TTŞ. İnşaat (Azerbaijan) and Ludwig Pfeiffer Hoch-Und Tiefbau GmbH & Co.KG (Germany).

The subject of the tender was as follows:

- Construction of water intake facilities (underwater pumps, drilling of five deep wells, laying of electricity and installation of transformers, landscaping and fencing work)

- Restoration of water supply (laying of the water distribution system of 71 000 metres, installation of meters - 3,400 units, etc.)

- Restoration of the sewer system (the construction of sewers of 79,000 metres in length, connecting to the 2750 homes and reconstruction of roads in the area of about 56,000 square metres.)

- Construction of administrative buildings.

Reconstruction and construction work must be completed within 548 days.

The tender was announced under the second tranche of $300 million from the multi-tranche financing (MFF) of the Asian Bank to improve the water supply system and sanitation services in Azerbaijan. The Bank approved provision of this loan in January 2012. It will be used to complete the work within the system to improve the water supply and sewerage in Agdash, Goychay, Nakhchivan and Beylagan.

MFF to the sum of $600 million was approved in September 2009 by the board of directors of the Asian Development Bank.

Multi-tranche financing became the basis for an eight-year collaboration between the ADB and the Government of Azerbaijan, considering the incremental investment supported by a clear strategy and programme of reforms in water supply and sanitation.
