Kazakhstan has no plans for a global IPO (Initial Public Offering) of state companies in the near future

Kazakhstan has no plans for a global IPO (Initial Public Offering) of state companies in the near future, the Financial Officer - Member of the Board of Kazakh National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna Nurlan Rakhmetov told Trend.

"Plans for introduction of the national companies on the global IPO have been postponed for an indefinite term," said Rakhmetov. "There is a very difficult macro situation now, and we are not forcing these issues in the face of such uncertainty."

At the same time, such plans exist in the long run, he said.

Introduction of the largest public companies in Kazakhstan, including the national oil and gas company KazMunaiGas, Atomic Company Kazatomprom, the railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy on global IPO is envisaged by the development strategy of the fund.

The national welfare fund, Samruk-Kazyna was created in accordance with the decree of the President of Kazakhstan in 2008 to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the national economy.

The foundation brings together all state-owned assets of Kazakhstan and manages these assets on behalf of the government. KazMunaiGas NC JSC, the railway operator - Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company JSC (KEGOC), communication operator - Kazakhtelecom JSC, National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC are among these assets.
