Railway agencies of Azerbaijan and Poland are preparing for signing a memorandum on expanding cooperation in the railway sector, Ali Gasimov, head of tariff policy and marketing department at Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, told the EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Baku.

He noted that Poland is particularly interested in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TCITR) project, adding that the project is also of great interest to Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.

Gasimov said the introduction of competitive tariffs on TCITR contributes to its active operation.

He added that last week, movement of a container train from Poti (Georgia) to Baku was agreed at low preferential rates, and the train will run three times per week.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route runs through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and then through Turkey and Ukraine to Europe.
