Cargo turnover in Kazakhstan grows by 7.3%

Cargo turnover in Kazakhstan in 2018 amounted to 596.07 billion ton-kilometers, which is 7.3 percent more than in 2017, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

According to the Statistics Committee of the National Economy Ministry, in the reporting period, there was an increase of 8 percent in rail freight turnover. The volume of cargo transportation amounted to 4.1 billion tons (4.8 percent up year-on-year).

Last year, passenger traffic reached 281.5 billion passenger-kilometers (3.2 percent up). There was a 2.7 percent increase in the road passenger traffic and a 3.1 percent increase in the rail passenger traffic.

In total, 23.02 billion passengers were transported (1.3 percent up).
