Volume of processing industry products up in Iran’s Markazi Province

Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), 132,000 tons have been added to the processing of agricultural products in Iran’s Markazi Province, Ali Safari, head of processing department in Department of Agriculture for Markazi Province, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Safari, this increase was achieved thanks to the commissioning of 25 projects with 413 billion rials’ (app. $9.83 million) worth of investments in various counties of the province.

Safari noted that 378 people were provided with jobs with the launch of the projects.

"Licenses were given to 80 projects in the processing industry this year," he said.

With the commissioning of these projects, it is forecasted that an additional 542 tons of products will be processed and 1,060 people will be employed.

Noting that so far 2,58 million tons of agricultural products have been produced in the province, Safari added that it will be possible to process 2,26 million tons of products in 232 processing enterprises.

"Once these enterprises are fully operational, 3,960 people will be provided with employment," he said.

Safari said that 60 manufacturing industry projects have been announced for the rural employment program in the province, and 830 billion rials (app. $19.7 million) are to be allocated to this end.

Iran’s Markazi Province has a population of 1.41 million and 670,000 hectares of arable land and gardening plots. An additional 1,2 percent of the agricultural products of the province is sent to other provinces.
