Laying 100 kilometers of rails within Ardabil-Miyana railway project will be started soon in Iran’s Ardabil province, Deputy Governor of the province Masoud Emami Yeganeh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He said that the Ardabil railway project will be commissioned next year, according to the plans.

He added that 7.5 trillion riyals (about $178 million) have been allocated by Bank Melli Iran for the completion of the Ardabil-Miyana railway project.

“These funds will be paid by the Bank Melli Iran during three years, with 2.5 trillion rials (about $59.5 million) to be provided annually,” he said.

He noted that additional funds needed for the project will be provided by the government.

He said that last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019), in addition to 2.5 trillion rials, the government provided 700 billion rials (about $16.6 million) for the project.

The 175-kilometer Ardabil-Miyana railway construction has been launched in 2005. The project also envisages construction of 62 tunnels with length of 23.8 kilometers and a seven km long bridge.

The Ardabil-Miyana railway is planned to be commissioned by March 2021.
