A project to create a joint customs point between Georgia and Azerbaijan is being implemented in Georgia with the support of the Asian Development Bank, Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili said, Trend reports via Georgian media.

He made the remark at a high-level online meeting on the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program.

According to the minister, this is not only an important project but also an innovative idea.

“This project concerns not only the construction of infrastructure. The project will create a digital platform connecting the information systems of the two countries. We are confident that this will greatly simplify the border crossing process and will also be a good model for the CAREC corridor,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation among CAREC member countries, noting that promoting regional trade and creating a logistics corridor are the main goals of the Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Organization.
