New bridge to be built in Baku

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport launched a new project of auto-bridges construction in order to relief the transport infrastructure of Baku city. Foundation of the first bridge in the vicinity of Meshadi Azizbeyov subway station took place on March 15. It has length of 2,5km. Its approximate cost would be $25m. Azerbaijani company Azerkorpu will conduct the construction works.

The Azerbaijan minister of Transport, Ziya Mammadov, construction of another bridge will be launched soon next in the Tbilisi Avenue. 9 auto-bridges will be built all together. These projects will be terminated within 2 years period. Construction of a large number of ground and underground passages is also on the agenda.

All work will be conducted in accordance with the presidential decree On improvement of the transport system in the Baku city on 2006-2007. The minister promised that all transport communications will be built using modern technologies. There will be no street lights on the bridges, which will give the possibility to clear traffic jams. However, to solve the problem of traffic jams completely more transport connections are needed to be built.

Foreign companies will be attracted as consultants in the course of the construction.
