Azerbaijan defined customs fees to preserve at joining WTO

To protect national market in the process of joining the World Trade Organization (WРўРћ), Azeri government prepared proposals on customs fees to impose on imported agricultural and industrial goods. Head of Customs fees regulation with State Customs Committee Azizaga Huseynov told Trend maximum rate for agricultural production is set at 50-80% and average - at 23%. Industrial production rates are more liberal: maximum - 30-50%, average up to 15%.

В"These proposals have been submitted to WTO. The primary objective today is to preserve these rates, but it is still necessary to substantiate the need in themВ", - Huseynov said. The EU, being one of worlds largest agricultural production exporters, offers to reduce Azerbaijan-proposed rates. Some rates are even suggested to reduce to zero.

Import rate for industrial products is set at 15%, and for crude products 0-0.3%. crude products are applied zero import rate across the world.
