Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijan Minister for Economic development, said that an event to mark the third anniversary of the implementation of the State Program on Socio-Economic Development of Azerbaijani Regions will be held on 13 February 2007, Trend reports.
The Ministry of Economic Development will report on the work done in 2006, business plan for 2007, as well as state of implementation of instruction of orders by the Azerbaijan President after his tour of the regions of the country, the Minister said.
Preliminary data suggests, that over three years 520,000 new jobs have been created, including 277,000 permanent jobs. Investments were raised in this period in regional development through the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank. Along with foreign arrears, major parts of the investments were covered at the expense of the public budget and private capital. Technical assistance was provided for the institutional development of the Secretariat to ensure efficient implementation of the State Program.
