Directors of Municipalities Infringe Law while Allocation of Land

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / Some 1,000 infringements were registered during the allocation of land lots by municipalities in 2007, the chairman of the Committee on Land and Cartography, Garib Mammadov , reported.

According to Mammadov , 600 cases of infringement were resolved by the experts of the Committee, fines were imposed for 400 of these cases. As a result, some AZN 12,000 was transferred to the public budget. The initiators of 100 infringements were transmitted to law enforcement bodies.

While locating land lots, several heads of municipalities infringe the law by selling lands belonging to other local government bodies. "A citizen recognizes the decree as a legal document and this is applied for the land-survey... We inspect everything and reveal that the land does not belong to the municipality that issued the decree. Hence, we cannot issue a technical passport to the citizen. Thus, discontents occur," he stated.
