The price of oil from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) rose 0.97 dollars at the start of the week, the cartel said Tuesday.
One barrel (159 litres) of OPEC-produced crude climbed to 77.77 dollars on Monday, DPA reported.
The group's 12 members pump over a third of global oil supplies.
