French Total Company negotiates in Turkmenistan on oil and gas contract in Caspian

French Total Company discussed in Turkmenistan the details of the upcoming signing of a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) to develop the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

The talks at the State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan were held by senior vice president of Total Patrick Puyanne.

"We assess this meeting as a very important step for the development of perspective Turkmen market by our company, which is one of the largest developers in the oil and gas sector," he told journalists in Ashgabat.

According to him, before giving specific proposals for further cooperation, were "carefully studied the objects proposed for development."

Total is ready to offer Turkmenistan its experience in exploration, development of onshore and offshore fields, as well as the capabilities of its professionals.

"We see great prospects in cooperation with the energy power as Turkmenistan. And I hope that our talks and plans will soon find a real embodiment in form of large-scale joint projects."
Currently the development of Turkmen section of Caspian involves Petronas, Dragon Oil, Buried Hill, RWE, Itera. The international tender is attended by 32 licensed blocks in the Caspian Sea. Negotiations are also underway with BP, Chevron, TX Oil, ConocoPhilips, Marathon, ExxonMobil, Mubadala.
