Oil production at Kazakhstan's Kashagan field will not be suspended in the winter period, Kazakhstan's Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbay Karabalin told Trend after a press conference at the Central Communication Service.

"Suspension in Kashagan field in the winter period is not expected," Karabalin said responding to a question of a Trend correspondent after the press conference.

Earlier, an information source told Trend that with the beginning of the ice season in the Caspian Sea, oil production at Kashagan might be suspended.

"It is highly likely that oil production at Kashagan will be suspended at the beginning of the ice season in the Caspian Sea. On September 11 the first barrel of Kashagan oil was pulled from the first reactivated well. However, it was preliminarily planned to get oil from five wells," the source said at that time.

The first barrels of oil were produced at the Kashagan field on September 11, 2013.
