Azerbaijan slightly reduces oil transportation via BTC

In January 2019, over 2.81 million tons of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which is 0.7 percent less than in January 2018, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

The BTC accounted for 81.9 percent of all oil transported through the country's main oil pipelines in January 2019.

According to the State Statistics Committee, a total of 3.4 million tons of oil were transported via the country's oil pipelines compared to 3.54 million tons transported in January 2018.

In January, the BTC pumped almost 432,100 tons of transit (Turkmen) oil, which is less than the amount in January 2018 (554,000 tons).

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1768 kilometers of which 443 goes through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers through Georgia and 1076 through Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.
