The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) has supplied Euro 4 standard fuel to big cities in Iran, said the head of NIORDC Public Relations Office.
"The Oil Ministry has obtained 85 percent approval over the distribution of Euro 4 emission from the Department of Environment and has fulfilled all its commitments in the distribution of this type of fuel. The NIORDC has been distributing Euro 4 gasoline to gas stations in Tehran according to cabinet's approval and the continuous monitoring of the Department of Environment has also approved the standard fuel," said Fatemeh Kahi, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The Euro 4 diesel fuel is also being distributed in all big cities even in suburbs of Tehran, in some cases, the NIORDC has worked more than its legal responsibility for distribution, for example, the Euro 4 diesel distribution in Isfahan was doubled according to the cabinet approval," he noted.
Iran's big cities and especially Tehran are overpopulated therefore the focus has always been on the quality and quantity of fuel, any problem in fuel quality could lead to air pollution.
In recent years the Oil Ministry has moved toward improving fuel quality and the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company has produced and distributed Euro 4 standard fuel to reduce air pollution.
