State Oil Company of Azerbaijan agreed to dismantle sections of Baku-Novorossiysk and Mozdok-Kazimagomed pipelines

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan provided technical opportunities to Amelioration and Water Industry РћРђРћ for transfer of a part of route of Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline (В"northernВ" route) and Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas pipeline within the forthcoming construction of Tahtakerpu reservoir in Devechi area.

Officials of SOCAR, which pumps oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline with AIOC, told Trend the company plans to dismantle 6 or 7km from each of the pipelines. В"Total length of the bypassing section will make 10-12km at each pipelineВ", SOCAR official said.

Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas pipeline is used to import the gas purchased from Gazexport (Gazprom РћРђРћ subsidiary).

SOCAR official said the operations may a week to month. В"However, today we dont know for sure when these operations startВ", he added.

During the first half-year, Azerbaijan exported 2.35mln ton of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk, up 905.7k ton over year. From the total amount of oil in 2006, 346k ton belonged to SOCAR and a bit more than 2mln to AIOC. The transit fee at Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is $15.67/ton.

During January-June, Gazexport delivered 2.32bn m3 of gas to Azerbaijan, compared to 2.6bn m3 in January-June 2005. During this year, SOCAR is planning to purchase some 4.5bn m3 from Gazexport at $110 per 1k m3.
