State Oil Company plans increasing gas production by 1bn m3 in 2007

According to the forecasts for 2007, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will increase gas production by 2 to 2.5mln m3 a day (nearly 900mln m3 a year), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan.

Gas production increase is conditioned by collection and pressurizing of low-pressure gas with its further transportation from Guneshli field.

In particular, new pipelines shall be installed to transport gas. PA Azneft with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan discusses technical issues with McDermott Caspian Contractors Inc, offshore pipelines contractor. The pipelines shall be installed from platforms ##14 and 4 at Guneshli field to Neft Dashlari.

The first, 500m outside diameter pipeline will be 26.5km in length and used for high-pressure gas transportation from SOCAR-developed Guneshli field ashore. The pipes will be supplied by MAN of Germany by October-November 2006.

Besides, it is planned to install a 300m outside diameter gas pipeline with length 8.4km from Neft Dashlari. A part of this pipeline has already been prepared a site in Govsani and another will be installed using pipelaying vessel Suleyman Vezirov.

The tender for gas compressor station installation at Guneshli field was awarded to Forqel Finans LTD. This station will be installed at Guneshli-4 platform, preceded by equipment delivery in November 2006 April 2007.
