Iran's per capita income declines

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.31

Trend:

Declining per capita income in Iran and difficult development conditions have caused the economy to shrink and the current per capita income is similar to 50 years ago that would limit population development, said a member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

"The following event occurs when the country's development situation is not suitable that would affect the future and cause the bankruptcy of pension fund," said Hassan Forouzanfard, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Iran has various ecological capacities and the young workforce that could have the positive elements in development," he said.

According to him, the natural resources, oil, and gas was a priority and lack of management did not use the capacity of the young population to develop and did not reach the same level as other regional countries, many young individuals have left the country.

"The humans are a definite part of the development and we lost the chance and the effect would show themselves in the next 20 years mostly in bankruptcy of Iranian Social Security Organization funds. These funds would be sustainable and grow if they have a logical outcome, unfortunately, we suffered from a decline in population that would have a painful effect on pension funds," he added.

"The issue is currently visible since the savings have reduced due to the shrunk economy that would cause low fertility rate while the life expectancy increases that would lead to the bankruptcy of pension funds. Human resources should be taken seriously," he noted.
