Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / In January to October 2007 the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies invested more than AZN 23mln in the telecommunications sphere or AZN 4.2mln more than 2006.
The funds were directed at the reconstruction of communications lines, construction of city and fibre-optic mains, a source stated at the Ministry on 9 November.
In this period Aztelekom (part of the Ministry) invested AZN 13mln in the development of the communications sector, Baki Telefon Rabitasi - AZN 5.6mln, Teleradio - AZN 454,100, Azerpocht - AZN 2.3mln.
In 2007 the Ministry plant to invest AZN 29mln in IT compared to 42mln in 2006.
