Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 5 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani company Avirtel has tested high-speed access to the Internet via the electrical network, Avirtel Director General Esmail Shabani told Trend .

At present, the company purchased and installed equipment to provide internet services via the transmission network. The service will be put into operation in Baku, Shabani said.

One should purchase a special modem to connect to the Internet through a power grid.

The technology will be fully functional and operate as current high-speed data networks. Currently, the most developed countries practice access to the Internet through power grid.

Although the introduction of this system is very expensive, it gives users a number of advantages, including low cost of Internet access (about two times lower), no need for a telephone line, whole network of communications and high speed data transmission.

Avirtel Company intends to use the new technology of internet access for the organization, especially a high-speed network access through power grid and IP-based protocol, additional services (VoIP, IP-TV and several other services). According to Shabani, speed of Internet access via power grid can reach 300 Mbps.
