Mobile operator of Azerbaijan delays launch of new SIM card activation method

Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell LLC has postponed until the end of June the launch of a simplified method of the first activation of SIM cards, the company told Trend.
Previously, the company was preparing to present a new activation method until the end of May. Currently, technical procedures for launching the service are in the final stage.
The simplified activation method will allow the subscriber to activate the number without a scratch card.
For the first activation of the SIM cards subscribers need scratch cards to fill a certain amount in their balance. The simplified method will allow activating the number through online payments.
The number of Bakcell subscribers is approximately 3.1 million. The total number of base stations of the operator exceeds 6,500, which allows providing communication services to more than 99 percent of the people and 93 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan.
