The Production Unit Aztelekom of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan carried out necessary measures for the oncoming additional, repeat and new municipal elections in Azerbaijan scheduled for October 6, 2006. 783 polling stations in 69 election districts in 48 regions have been provided with qualitative communication services, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry.
The Ministry carried out the same measures for the parliamentary elections last year. Stable communications were supplied to 3,677 election commissions, and an alternative mobile connection together with free phone cards was provided.
In addition, 5 operative groups of the Communications Ministry for emergency situations were in operation to prevent emergencies.
Alternative communications had been created in election information centers to provide operative exchange of information in relation with the elections by using the technical opportunities of Internet networks of Aztelekom.Net
